From a One-Night Project to your Favorite: The Granny Square Beanie
Where can I find the pattern for that beanie?
Over the last few months, that has easily been the most-asked question across my Instagram and Facebook. It’s been an incredible whirlwind! The journey actually began last year when I started thinking of a project that checked all the boxes: it needed to be easy to craft, look absolutely stunning, and offer a unique canvas for playing with bold, wonderful colors.
What started as a simple “one-night project” quickly turned into something much bigger.
Designed for Every Maker
My goal was to create something “catchy” and unique that wouldn’t intimidate a newcomer. I wanted a design that was accessible enough for total beginners and “advanced beginners,” yet engaging enough for established crocheters to enjoy.
When I finally posted a short “process” video of the making-of, the response was so positive and supportive ❤️.
The comments and messages poured in by the hundreds! I was especially touched to hear from so many people who told me this beanie was the very first project they want to try and enter the crocheting world.
Knowing I could help spark that creative flame for someone was all the motivation I needed to get the official pattern polished and published.
The Road to Perfection
Of course, turning a personal project into a professional pattern takes work. There were many:
Sleepless nights spent refining the instructions.
Endless stitch counting to ensure a perfect fit.
Photography and filming sessions to capture every detail.
With the enormous help of my dedicated pattern testers, we ironed out every detail until it was finally ready for the world.
A Global Crochet Community
Since the launch, the support from the crochet community has been truly amazing. It is a surreal and joyful experience to see my design being worn by makers in Germany, Croatia, the USA, the UK, Turkey, Poland, France, Ireland and beyond.
